Dickie Scruggs mounted one of his trademark assaults on the insurer after Katrina. But his battle plan went wrong. (Fortune Magazine)

John Grisham, a former Mississippi lawyer and longtime friend of Scruggs’, is said to have loosely based his novel The King of Torts on Scruggs.
